THE REAL SINGER Final Showdown

Packed with more than 120 audiences
in the theatre!
We witnessed the 10 Artistes-In-Progress (AIPs) improvements
and breakthroughs. The AIPs presented 2 songs in front
of a panel of 5 professional judges, all from local
arts and entertainment scene. 4 AIPs were selected
to go though a fully-sponsored special training -
where eventually one of them will release an album
for commerical release in 2011.

Hark Music is proud to present a song
composing sharing session for an up & coming singer-songwriter
- Jiang Yang. He has impressed not only with his powerful
self-acommpanied vocal performances, he also shared
his composing experiences and knowledge.
SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE:
Zhang Le Sheng, who has won 2 Mediacorp’s STAR
AWARDS in 2004 & 2007. Besides contributing to
Mediacorp’s productions, he has also gained
overseas recognition with his 30 works sang by Rainie
Yang, Joi Chua, Jocie Guo, Kelly Poon, etc.
Both talented composers, composed a song (complete
with melody & lyrics) together during the event!

Perform to Inspire Workshop

With the rising expectations of music
listeners today, it has become a challenge for performers
to meet up to those expectations while at the same time
be creative and unique in their own right.
Hark Music’s self-taught Music Director, Mr. Amos
Teo, shared his knowledge with participants through
his vast experiences as a performer, mentor and creator
of pop music learning syllabus.
This workshop, conducted in a combination of English
and Mandarin, aimed at helping budding music enthusiasts
improve on their overall performing standards and
also understand various ways to inspire and impress
today’s audience.

Lunar and Hark Music proudly present Singapore’s
first-ever Live Singing PK Challenge from 9 March to
3 May 2008 held at Lunar Asian Fusion Bar.
Tapping on the recent buzz in the “PK” element found
in singing competitions, the event has attracted many
singing enthusiasts across the island.
(PK = Player Kill, also often used in to describe
mean competition between 2 contestants, where only one
shall emerge as winner.)
Unlike the existing PK contests shown on TV programmes,
this event, conducted in a ‘Live’ venue, has created
maximum realism and excitement to all the contestants
and audience.

A rare Music Workshop to share with our students on
performing tips.
The main presenters of the workshop -
Amos Teo (Music Director) & Patrick Goh (Pop Piano
Instructor).
Alongside, we have invited Alex Tan and Valen Tan (our
Vocal Instructors) to perform some songs and to share
their performing experience with the students.
It was a truly enriching session, as other than sharing
performing tips with the students, Hark Performing Team
was prepared to present a few of their songs, where
our instructors gave direct pointers for improvement.

Maiden Concert for our Hark Performing Team since their
challenging audition rounds in Nov/Dec 2007! 15 Hark
Performers put up an encouraging unplugged show which
lasted for 90 mins.
Their disciplined weekly practices has shown good improvement,
and we applaud their efforts in organising the entire
show, right from the songs selections, program line-up,
and hosting!
They have performed songs like ????,??,More than Words,???,???????with
the presence of a full-house!
One highlight of the night was the special performance,
by our Hark-In-Progress, Leonard Tang, togther with
our in-house instructors, Shawn Tan, David Chong and
Jane Wu.

On 8th December 2007, we have invited 2 of local outstanding
music acts - LGF (Little Green Frog) & Black Forest
Band to share their music with you, in a FULL LIVE BAND
experience!
It was a full-house experience for the
bands! They delivered their originals, together with
several covers.
Major publications has been very supportive. Shin Min
Daily, 8-Days, U-Weekly, I-S Magazine, LIME, NTUC Lifestyle,
FIRST and Timeout helped to carry this event feature,
making it a success!

An Open Mic session which allows the public to take
part, and perform any song with our Live Band!
Many audiences took the chance to be on stage, when
our Performing Studio first opened in May 2007!
It was definitely a exhilarating experience for all,
with the opportunity to perform in a more conducive
environment and a more appreciative crowd.

A weekly concert
that ran on every Saturday from May to July 2007.
All Artistes-In-Progress had to perform with conviction
with new songs week after week. This was part of the
Artiste Development Course training.
Mediacorp Channel 8 News has even reported this in the
prime news slot! We were featured in www.xin.sg too!

The 1st Singing Competition organised for Hark Students
in mind!
It was a great success judging from the turnout right
from the auditions to the grand final!
Expecting only about 100 participants, we had more than
150 participants auditioning! The Grand Finals was packed
till the brim, that people have to queue far beyond
our main entrance. And when our studio could not admit
more, the overflow had to watch the show at our reception
through the LCD screen!
It was an great experience for everyone. We even held
a mini-concert for all the Grand Finalists once again
after the Grand Finals!

Hark Performing Studio

2007 (Every Last Monday of the Month)
A friendly event to promote interactivity between students
from all classes, all courses.
OpenStage is an activity where all students participate
to improve their performing skills in a learning ground.
You do not have to be real good to be on stage! We say,
you learn as you perform!
Only Hark can provide such activity with our very own
Performing Studio (seats 80!) to simulate an exciting
experience with real audience!
Everyone's here to learn, so don't be afraid to be part
of it!

Our Artistes-In-Progress (AIPs) put up a show for the
Olympic Dream 2007 in Toa Payoh Stadium on 15th July
2007.
It was an enlightening experience for the AIPs.
We were present to cheer the runners who were trying
to break a record of running the circumnavigation of
the globe which is 100,000 laps!

We were honoured to be invited to do a Lunchtime Concert
at Creative Technology on 6th September 2007.
Putting up a Live Band Ensemble, (Shawn on Guitar; Jane
on Keyboard; Amos on Drums), the atmosphere were liven
up with light-hearted songs and of course, the popular
songs that everyone's familiar with.
