What is HPT (Hark Performing Team)?

In order to get the best out of music learning, it is important for students to gain performing exposures during their course of learning. Yet there are rarely such opportunities in Singapore. This is mainly due to the additional costs and efforts needed in the areas of training, organising and setting up the performing venue.

As we strongly believe what the benefits of live performance can greatly help a learning student, after 7 years of hard work, we decided to take the extra step to take up this challenge.

A special initiative, The Hark Performing Team (HPT), was set up in 2007 with the aim to create simulated on-the-job training for aspired music performers. It acts as a platform to develop their music skills with like-minded music lovers where they will form unplugged performing groups comprising of guitarists, pianists and vocalists.

The HPT Student Performers enjoy the privilege of going through our specially designed 3-month cycle of Skills Improvement Programme (SIP) which offers weekly performances, monthly follow-ups and quarterly workshop and evaluation. The 3-month programme valued at $600 per student is offered free-of-charge to a group of specially hand-picked students through our auditions which is held once every 6 months.

To date, besides numerous in-house performances, the HPT Student Performers have been exposed to public performances in places such as library@Esplanade, Marina Square CentreStage, National Library in Jurong, Choa Chu Kang Lot 1 and many more!

We shall continue to thrive to benefit as many as possible, propelling them to higher grounds with this non-profit effort.
