Never had the chance…

How many of us have a passion in an area, but was told we should not give priority to spend time and money on it?

During childhood, the chance to take up music lesson never came to Amos Teo (the founder of Hark Music), because his parents could not afford.
But that did not stop him from using his entire “Ang Bao” savings to buy a piano keyboard at the age of 14 and figured on his own how to play it with music sheets. After a while, he felt that something was missing – the essence of appreciating and expressing the music was just not present. It was simply an instructional process of reading the notes and translating them to the keys.

He joined a percussion band which was focusing more on expressing the grooves and vibes within the musician. That was the time he knew that the only path of learning music was NOT through traditional classical music methods. They were not designed for today’s learners who are not pursuing academic papers.

So, it happened for a good reason.

His desire to search for a way to play music without instructions motivated him to develop a system that allowed him to teach himself. He continued to explore playing the guitar and singing by using his natural music senses and started performing at school events and music cafes.

With the accumulated performing experiences, he began to do some “reverse-engineering” on his musical skills which enlightened him to develop the S.K.T. (Sense, Knowledge, Technicalities) approach. This approach breaks down the skills needed to express and understand music into simple and achievable learning steps.

With the accumulated performing experiences, he began to do some “reverse-engineering” on his musical skills which enlightened him to develop the S.K.T. (Sense, Knowledge, Technicalities) approach. This approach breaks down the skills needed to express and understand music into simple and achievable learning steps.

To integrate all the learning components effectively, he created The EXPRESSWAY™ learning system. This proven method allows the learners to achieve results in the shortest time possible while enjoying the music learning process.

Even as a completely self-taught musician, he has composed and produced original songs for local talents. “Keeping Running”, “No More Hiding”, “Love Song to SG”, “Compass”, “It’s Enough”, and “What Would I Be”, to name a few, have received national airplay on television and radio. Click here to watch…

He also served as a judge of numerous singing competitions including SAFRA The Ultimate Voice, Rhapsody (NUS), Talent Quest (NTU), Melody of Hope (Singapore Kindness Movement)

Continue to benefit more people

We are constantly innovating our teaching methods and personalising programmes that cater to the modern learners.

Besides providing the traditional weekly-lesson option, we have pioneered the 1-day JumpStart programme that revitalise and accelerate the learning process. This has become our signature programme for music lovers who have difficulty committing to a weekly lesson or simply wish to have a musical breakthrough in 1 day.
